Michigan Transfer Agreement

We know that college is an expensive investment, which is why you may have chosen to attend a community college. Now that you’re ready transfer to Wayne State, you need to make the most of the academic credit you’ve earned at your community college. That’s why Wayne State recently signed the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA). This agreement allows community college students to complete the 30 credit hour Michigan Transfer Agreement and transfer it as a block to satisfy WSU's General Education Requirements.

The Michigan Transfer Agreement begins Fall 2014 semester.

A student whose community college transcript is endorsed as "MTA satisfied" has satisfied WSU's General Education Requirements and will only be required to satisfy one of the remaining General Education courses:

              *OR*

Once you have received the MTA endorsement on your Michigan community college transcript you will have your Wayne State general education requirements satisfied. This could fulfill many degree requirements at Wayne State, and move you that much further along towards earning your bachelors degree! This will save you both time and money. Check with your community college registrar's office or counseling office to find out how to request an MTA transcript evaluation.

You will need to satisfy any other school, college, or major requirement. To determine if any requirements of your intended major or program might also satisfy an MTA requirement please refer to the WSU bulletin.

You can earn your MTA endorsement after you start classes at WSU either as part of the Reverse Transfer Program, or on your own.  Once your endorsement is posted you can just have an official transcript sent and your record will be updated.

Make the most of your time at your community college -- speak to your adviser about a road map to becoming MTA satisfied now and review our transfer plans. That way, you will have maximized your community college credits when you decide to apply to transfer to Wayne State. We look forward to seeing you on campus!

 Minimum Requirements to satisfy MTA:

Students must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours in courses selected from the following categories:

A minimum grade of 2.0 is required for each course.

Your community college will have an available website for detailed information including approved courses for completing the MTA.

Prior to Fall 2014:
Students who started at a community college prior to Fall 2014 will have until the end of August 2019 to have their transcripts evaluated by a community college for the MACRAO agreement.  Please see our MACRAO page for more details.
